Well, not quite the kind of adventure our dear little Flapjack looks for, but it was an adventure nonetheless.

We realized that nothing in the dining room area was working, so my mom checked the breaker box, found that one of them had been tripped. Ian and I were sitting on the chairs in the living room. We heard one loud pop as mom flipped the breaker. We looked at each other and said "What the hell was that!"

Then there was another pop....and smoke, coming from under my chair. Ian yelled "YO!" And I jumped up screaming "Fire! Fire!" and ran to the kitchen, to get water and to get mom.
We had an extension cord running underneath the chair to the outlet in the wall and when mom flipped the breaker switch, it shorted the wire, which sort-of exploded.

But we're all okay. I'm a little spooked. But no one got hurt and nothing caught on fire.

I got a lecture about not throwing water on an electrical fire, which I know not to do, but, hey, at least I reacted. XD

We learned a valuable lesson though.


We should invest in a fire extinguisher.
